2. No, they really are not supported.
3. They are not coming back

Other than that, we hope you enjoy MrMC so far and we welcome any input and feedback you might have.
First thank you for bringing Kodi in form of MrMC to the Apple TV Can't wait to c it in the store
I would just love to see it in an tvOS like style. So will MrMC Media PLayer support skinning as Kodi does?
At least then there might be the possibility that someone will creat an tvOS like skin...
Sure it supports skinning, as long as that skin does not have python helpers.
As for user installed skins, that's something we would love to support but we have to do it in a way that will pass Apple review. We figure for first release, we play it safe. Once we are released, then we can start investigating the sandbox bounds.

¿Is there any way we can check what skins do have python helpers and which ones dont?

trust me, all do... ask me how I know
So we just have to wait for skins specifically designed for MrMC without python helpers. Its ok
Quartz and Amber can be easily adopted to work without Python- Quartz use it for favorites only while Amber can use native recently added shelf instead of Python fetched.
support for favorites, I assume, you could be provided by app itself but this is not necessary to have right now and this can come later.
