Apple TV Home Screen When MrMC Is Selected.

I have two identical ATV 4s, both running TVOS 12.4, MrMC 3.9-1

On one TV the shelf (?) of the ATV Home Screen displays Recently Added Movies when the cursor (?) is over the MrMC icon. The other TV displays TV Shows instead of movies.

How do I get both to display TV Shows?

home shelf content is set by content in MrMC , if both have the same content in MrMC library then both will display same in ATV home.

I should first say that I only use Plex now. Haven't used the MrMC libraries for quite some time. I compared both installations.

On the MrMC that displayed Movies on the ATV home screen, the content was correctly set for both TV Shows and Movies.

On the MrMC that displayed TV Shows on the ATV home screen, the content was set for none of the media sources. I set the content for Movies and TV Shows. Now this TV also shows Movies on the ATV home screen which is exactly what I don't want.

Oh, well. I guess I can unset the content for the movies source to force MrMC to display TV shows on the ATV home screen.

There ought to be an easier way.

if you are using Plex only you don't need to set any sources, sources are only relevant for MrMC library.

make sure you select Plex server instead of the MrMC server on home and what shows as recently added movies/episodes on MrMC home will mirror to ATV home.

The MrMC sources were left over from before I started to use Plex.

So, I deleted all the sources from MrMC. But, if MrMC is selected as the server, it still shows Movies. Why does it still show Movies when I’ve deleted all the sources?

And, Recently Added Movies is still on the ATV home screen.

I say forget this. It’s a cosmetic problem that isn’t worth either of our time.

if you remove the source, you have to clear out the library to remove all traces of that source.

I see can this is going to be tedious.

So, I cleaned the library and MrMC has no sources and no content.

But, the Apple TV home screen still shows recently added movies.

So, I added TV shows too MrMC.

Then the Apple TV home screen shows TV shows.

But, if I switch to the Plex server, the Apple TV home screen goes back to showing Moves.

How do I get the Apple TV home screen to show TV shows when Plex is selected as the server?

I’ll try to explain how it works...

You choose the server on MrMC home screen and that populates RA and in progress tvshows and movies. Once that’s done, we copy that content over to apple tv home screen.

Setting up movies/show sources in MrMC library does not have anything to do with it if Plex server is selected in MrMC home. Just logging in plex is not enough, you need to choose the relevant server.

Sometimes apple takes few seconds to trigger the refresh of the content on its home screen

Edit: this is all based on opacity and Ariana skins, other skins do not support separate servers and display all information bundled together.... but that’s for another thread
