MrMC

Hey everyone,

since today my MrMC App is crashing on my AppleTV 4K when the scan for TV Series is starting. I rebooted the AppleTV, reinstalled the MrMC App but none of this is helping. Any thoughts what this could be? I'm using the TVDB scraper for the scan. Does anybody else have the same problem?

I can definatively confirm that it is related to the TVDB scraper. When I'm using the MovieDB scraper everything is working properly. As soon as I switch again and do a rescan, the App is crashing.

There is an API change of TVDB, which appears to have trouble now with backwards compatibility of API requests it seems. So maybe MrMC is crashing because of that...

That would explain it at least but why is it only happening to me? I have the newest version installed and a friend of mine doesn't see that issue.

You can only draw that conclusion if you are both scraping the SAME TV Shows and episodes, using the exact SAME software, configured the same way.

Story short, TVDB seems to have issues now, due to all the changes they have done recently.

Well, then I'll be patient and wait for a fix. Workaround is in place so I'm fine. Thanks for your explanations and input!

The short, tvdb rolled out a new 'defective' API. Just about every app that uses them is having issue including crashing.
The details have been investigated and it's a major 'opps' on the part of tvdb. They are rolling back to the previous API.

I see they are in no rush to fix this. As if Tvdb rep wasn’t in the gutter enough with me already.

it looks like the kodi tvdb scraper has been updated to v3.0.16 as my mrmc version is at 2.0.16 I assume this requires an app update as we aren’t able to manually update it. Any idea of an eta? Having to keep my new shows outside my scraping folder for the time being to prevent crashes. I’d rather not switch scraper entirely if possible.
