I hate Plex because it converts everything before playing it. ( i always use english subtitles )
Therefore i am using MrMC.
Now i am wondering, when playing a video through MrMC using the plex library, will plex convert this video also or will it play directly.
In other words, does plex just pass through the location of the file to MrMC?

It’s direct play by default, so file is untouched and passed on to us by plex

I have a very related question. My Plex app default is to Play Original. My MrMC uses the Plex as service. If I try to play some 4K videos in Plex it often fails, but those same files will play in MrMC (in Ariana,Plex as service). While that impresses me, I wonder why/how mrmc can play them while Plex can’t.
