Just a note to testflighters, there are about 20 users in testflight for tvOS and we can see who has which versions installed.

It is real important that we get timely feedback on Siri remote changes and the new visual focus effects. So far, just two testflight users have made comments. So can we assume that the other 18 are fine with these changes ?

I deactivated the visual focus effects, because I was a bit disturbed. In addition, I always have to tap 2 times to go one step further. This always happens when you change to a different view. For example when I go to USB (my favorites) and then go down there to scroll through my contents.
In the radio function, the menu is not displayed via OK in the full view.

Seems better now, but it can still go crazy if I pan too fast, but I guess that's just the Siri remote being the Siri remote but it's a lot harder to do that now. Also my normal remote is working the way it was before. Forgot to mention that earlier.

I'm seeing that, too.

I didn't have a lot of time to use it last night and I have to work extra this weekend but I might be able to look further tomorrow.

My quick use of it yesterday though - the focus effects did seem a little jarring at first but I think I'll get used to it. Maybe it will work better with the new theme? I also found that there was lag in the remote response... like I would hit a few buttons and nothing would happen for about 5-10 seconds and then suddenly MrMC would react to all those presses at once. Maybe because I'm running the tvOS 11 beta? I didn't notice it in the previous beta. I haven't updated to today's beta yet.

I just got home from being away.

The trick I learned last week about swiping down on the side of the trackpad doesn't work anymore.

And tapping responsiveness is even worse now. Most of the time the highlighted item will wiggle at my tap but nothing actually happens.

Frankly, I resent all the people on this board who begged for siri remote changes. All of them should be forced to test this.

Does disabling the swipe fixes the issue with tap?

It's a little better with swipe disabled. Still not nearly as quick and responsive as before. Also, it's not as fast and responsive as other tvOS apps which, I assume, also use the same API.

By the way, I'm on build 20170617-75938d0 which I don't see listed in the first post.

😂 yeah I didn't mind the old way, but I also generally use my harmony so either way and I don't really care.

Just a note: All other tvOS Apps use multiple UIViews to present the GUI. The Apple focus engine interacts directly with these and handles the movement. In other words, it just sort of magically happens.

MrMC on the other hand is a OpenGL based app. We have one UIView for OpenGL to draw into and handle all the drawing of items based on how the skin is designed. As such, MrMC is the only tvOS app around that can change it's look/feel on the fly by changing the skin. All others are fixed in stone at design time. Because of this, we cannot leverage the internal tvOS focus engine (we only have one UIView) so we must emulate the focus engine. That's what this testflight is all about :)

Another testflight is brewing:
Guard clamp on tap removed.
Pan bounds increased a bit to reduce sensitivity.

Auto-Scroll on pan pinned up/down/right/left will return, maybe this one or the next.

First impressions with Siri, the focus zoom bugged me so I turned it off, for me to keep it on it wouldn't need to be more more subtle (less zoom), and gradual like TVOS, not just instant max zoom. I assume if this becomes default there will be no need to have the blue highlight bar to focus? If so, will there be an option to turn it off? Don't see the point in having two focus methods..

I use the "tap to navigate" technique rather than swiping generally, for me to switch It would need to be a lot more sensitive. Can't we just add user modifiable fields in the input menu? At least for TestFlight, and then have presets to choose for public releases?

I love th double tap for fast scroll.. not sure if it was available prior to this beta but only just read about it.. it seems too quick for me to be practical though, the screens fly by before I know where I'm at.. seems it's made for people with monster libraries? Maybe have different speeds presets for that too.. personally I just tap right to get to the scroll bar and then tap up/down to jump pages.

Anything else I've missed that needs testing?
