ATV: MYSQL finds movies, but cannot play (no data) - MRMC Ipad + Old ATV finds and plays them

Post by Londo2017 »

Hi there,

With my new ATV, i could not get Mrmc + my old mysql to work:

Mrmc „founds“ the movie and has got the entry in the library, but cannot play them (file not found, do you want to delete it?). When I go to media sources and search a movie in a folder and start it manually, it is normally played.

Mrmc on Ipad and the old ATV founds the same movie and plays it without a problem. The settings for mysql are the same (Port, Server etc…)

Any suggestions?

I admit still being a MrMC user although the project is obviously dead now.

My setup is a SQL database on my NAS where files are also being stored. Different devices, such as iPad, several ATV, old and new ones accessing the files. None of the devices I use does have any issues with playing them.

However, it's been some time since I installed my recent ATV to the network, so I try remember the steps I made. And in addition, I recently stumbled over an issue I never encountered before: The loss of data within in the database. First make sure that your ATV is set top IPV4 (deactivate IPV6 in settings). For whatever reason this caused resp. solved problems for me. IPV4 should not be an issue within ones internal private network as these networks are usually based on IPV4. It might happen that this can already solve your problem - as this is ery similar to what happened to me.

Second, be sure to connect the new ATV to the same SQL database all the other are fascilitating. There might be several databases with different versions which might have something to do with software updates from the past. Remember to set user/pass within settings for the SQL db.

Third, check whether you are using NFS or SMB (check which version your NAS is supporting resp what are the settings on your other devices) and utilize same settings on your new ATV. Within NFS you have to allow IPs redsp. IP ranges to access the files, SMB requires user/pass - however, that is rather unlikely that you have such wrong settings as the files play normally when manually accessing them. Anyway, give it a check.

I am curious if the IPV4/IPV6 setting already solves your prob.

Good luck!
