I would need a "17.* kodi database" compatible version, but currently in the appstore is only 3.9.6. Reason are other non appletv devices in house which cannot be updated to newer kodi datebase.
Is there some way to get older version installed, also note that I have an jb device (AppleTV 4-th gen), and sure payed version of mrmc.
Also what would be preferred way to transfer settings from 4k (also jb 12.4) to the 4th gen apple tv? Not the library this is already on mariadb on remote server.

App Store doesn’t offer the previous version installs... there is no mechanism to install earlier versions.
You can build it from the github version yourself but note that some fixes, scrapers and other changes won’t be included.
Settings are device specific and there is no recommended way to transfer them. You have remote MySQL database, you ca just connect to it and set the device specific settings as you have them on the other device
