Zoom issues on 4k movies

Hi all

I recently upgraded to the new Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 version which I have connected to a Sony 4k TV via a Sony receiver.

I am seeing some odd playback behaviour when I try to use the zoom function from the video setting menu, specifically for 4k movie streams from my home server. I often do this to slightly minimise the black bars when watching films and have never had a problem on my old Shield TV. Basically the right edge and bottom of the picture become distorted towards the edge of the TV. This only happens with 4k content, 1080p content works fine with the zoom. I have tried to add a picture of what it looks like below.

Anyone else seen this issue?

Hi all, has anyone else with the new 2019 Shield pro seen this issue?

Still seeing this distortion at the right and bottom edges of the screen when zooming. I am playing mkv files backed up from 4k blu rays over my home network from my nas. 1080p movies zoom fine.

Would be great if one of the devs could take a look at this... Not sure currently if its a shield issue or a MRMC issue.

I have been playing around with the settings. If I turn off the Mediacodec (Surface) acceleration, I am able to zoom 4k movies with no issue. However, I then seem to lose the hdr output.

With Mediacodec (surface) switched on I see the distortion in the picture on the right and bottom edge as described above.

Please could anyone with a Shield 2019, confirm if they see the same behaviour?

Has anyone been able to take a look at this issue? Same problem has been posted on the Kodi forum by a couple of other users.

Ok, understood. I have also posted this issue on the Nvidia support forum and the Kodi Forum....hopefully I will have more luck there.

looks like nvidia staff replied to you. it's on the list to look at.

For anyone else having this issue, another user has posted a solution on the Kodi forum. In the video upscaling settings in the Nvidia Shield menu, turn the Video Upscaling Mode setting to Basic, and this solves the issue. Zoom in all apps on the Shield then works fine.
