Playback issues new Shield

Post by lightsout »

Anyone else having choppy playback and sync issues with the new Shield Pro. I am playing 4k remuxes and many movies play really choppy likes it's 10 fps.

This is on a wired network using Emby sign in. Previous shield was fine and am not experiencing this in Kodi.

At least one other user at avsforum has the same issue.

Will get a log when I get some time.

No problem here. I make sure acceleration advanced timing is off as well as audio is iec packed being off. As smooth as the plex app.
I use the plex plugin to access my local plex server on my nas.

Ok I'll check those. I know I have that IEC thing on. Hopefully that will do it. Thanks for the quick reply.

I am not an avid mrmc user but really like the look and want to stay using it more.

I find audio sync is generally better with a wider variety of material if advanced timing is *on* and IEC packed is off.

But, on some material I get choppiness with advanced timing on. So, I guess I just run with advanced timing off and then adjust audio sync as needed.

Thanks. Those two settings helped. I felt like sync may have been the slightest hair off, but not even enough to try and fix it. But the previous video that was a slideshow worked great. Thanks!

VonMagnum wrote: 15 Feb 2020, 03:32 I watched another movie and turned frame rate change on this time and after about an hour and a half the video started getting choppy for some reason (audio fine). I hit pause and unpause and it went back to smooth. That was very strange. I don't know if it was related to the frame rate change or not. Surface acceleration mode causes the audio to skip every second or so instead.
The audio skipping may be something Nvidia have just fixed.

I have the same kind of problem with jerky playback. Any video I watch becomes jerky after 20 to 30 minutes. I can resolve this by stopping playback and starting it againg, but the problem re-appears many minutes after.
I did not try the pause/unpause method, will try it next time.
This problems appeared with latest 3.9.6 release, never noticed this before. I can play the same videos with Kodi 18.5 without problem.
