Plex Continue watching/recently added constantly not loading

Everything was rock solid but this is an annoying problem that started recently, launch mrmc lately and you get movies, other videos, tv show ect.... boxes, but nothing below the boxes 50% of the time. If i enter the movie section and go back then the continue watching and other sections appear. Frustrating issue that recently cropped up. I am using the plex client that comes baked into mrmc.

Seems something is wrong with the skin selection, what skin are you using?

Can you select it again in Settings-> appearance please, or choose a different one and revert to your original choice.

You have a ton of UPNP log entries, are you using UPNP?

I am not using upnp, maybe it got turned on by accident when I was enabling the web server...

I will try the provided steps and report back.

I did also reinstall mrmc but it made no difference.

I am running the latest shield version with all the beta fixes 8.0.1 (32.5.205.75).

Oh and the skin is Ariana, the white one.

This used to work fine just noticed this issue in the past month.

Also went to the upnp/dlna section in mrmc, nothing is enabled, weird if you are seeing those entries in the logs.

Tried the recommended steps but it still seems to be happening randomly where it wont load continue watching section of plex until i click on the movie box for example in ariana and then go back out and then it populates.

Im starting to think its an issue with exiting mrmc using the latest shield sw version. In developer options i have kill apps as soon as user leaves them enabled for a few reasons (I believe its called dont keep activities in the shield settings). SO when i exit the app the shield kills it. If i hit the quit button in mrmc i dont seem to have this problem, if i just go back a couple times or hit the home button and go back to mrmc it now seems to randomly have trouble loading the continue watching section. If i disable kill apps as soon as a user leaves them, and hit back a few times or hit the home button without hitting the quit box, and then go back, i get black pictures in the continue watching section as if they dont always load properly going back into mrmc.

So the only way to seemingly reproduce is if you dont hit the quit button (and i never had before) it seems to have issues loading that section if you go back to mrmc at times. I often just hit home or hit back twice to go to the shield menu. I notice its worse after waking from sleep the first time as well.

If I'm understanding this properly, then I am having the same / similar issue.

First launch of MRMC shows all the box art / Fan art properly on the home screen (Ariana - Dark). If I navigate around for a bit, or watch a video, once I go back to the home screen most of the boxes are black. I can navigate to them, and if I select them things function normally... however the only way to get the home screen to display properly is to kill the app and relaunch.

I'm also using Plex. this has been going on for a while - I'm on the prerelease list for both Shield updates and MRMC... so I'm really not sure where/when the issue began. I believe that this is affecting both of my Shields (2015 and 2017), I'll verify that when I get home tonight. I know for sure it's affecting the 2017 model.

This is not a deal breaker for me, so I never bothered to post anything... however, if the issue is the same, I can get you some more information to help both of us.

I'll also try another skin, see if it's Ariana related.

Yeah this sounds like the same problem I am having and is related to the ariana skin and the built in plex implementation, particularly I have noticed when I dont hit the quit button to leave the app.

I hope this gets resolved, it gets annoying after awhile to have a very nice skin and presentation and having black boxes randomly not loading in the recently added section (it makes the entire presentation look bad).

The logs i posted above should have the information available since I uploaded them after the problem appeared and then came here to report it.
