Dolby Vision

Post by Angryunibrow »

Let's get this out of the way now I guess.
Is Android/Android TV capable of playing back Dual Layer video files?

I know the new Shield was leaked and now supports Dolby Vision, but will the Shield be able to play these files if it contains 2 video tracks?

Or is it too early to tell, I just wasn't sure if we new the limitations of Android TV in regards to this.

No 3rd party app can play dual layer Dolby Vision.

Ok thanks, looks like it's a no go for an upgrade for me then. I'll keep using Plex on my LG OLED then for the DoVi rips.
