I did a few tests using libdsm and SMBX:

I played a video and then paused it, then:
1. left it for 2 minutes. Pressed play. No crash.
2. left it for 6 minutes. Pressed play. No crash.
3. put AppleTV to sleep (hold down TV button and choose sleep). Wake AppleTV up and you're on the home screen. MrMC had crashed upon waking up.
4. leave AppleTV to go to sleep on it's own (in my case 30 min). Wake up AppleTV. Video is still paused in MrMC. Press play and MrMC crashes.

Hmm, I'm using NFS and experiencing identical issues.
This started in 1.3, never before...
My NAS is set to never power down HDD:s.

Jabohn: Thanks for doing these tests. Since scenario 3 and 4 are things I simply never do, I will probably attempt to turn off SMBup and switch on SMBx/libdsm soon. Can you confirm that you've had no other problems with SMBx?

Thanks Davilla. I assume you mean fixed in the next released version?

Sanjuro, other than those tests in my list, I watched 2 hour-long TV episodes and picked some random videos that I just played for a moment to see if they would actually play. I also scrubbed through 1 or 2 of them as well. Only the sleep/crash issue for me.

Good to hear from both of you on this. I will switch to SMBx shortly and give it a go.

Sadly, my tests of SMBx are once again problematic. It works most of the time, but sometimes there are inexplicably long delays playing a video file (pressing play and waiting for it to start). And at least twice (in a test just now), one video just brings up "Working..." (gets stuck there) or a black screen (gets stuck there), necessitating a force-quit of the app. As per my tests in 1.2.0, it's like the connection to the server (via libdsm-SMBx) is flaky and unstable.

These same video files play flawlessly via SMBup, which I'll likely go back to.

You know the drill, mrmc.log with debug enabled. It's the only way we can figure out these outliers.

Yes, I did turn on the debug and captured the log with the issues. Can I just email an .RTF (TextEdit) file to [email protected]?
