Help connecting NAS drive

Hey

Not particularly techy. I used to use WDTV. Someone recommended I use this player via amazon firetrap as a replacement. I have a NAS drive which I used to stream from via wdtv. Got the app downloaded and working on fire tv but can’t seem to find a way to point the app at my hard drive which is connected via my router.

Any help would be much appreciated

one post is enough, add video source. which protocol depends on what your NAS supports.

try smb, it's pretty standard with synology

Thanks again the last answer got me communication with the hard drive and I can see all the videos now. It has posed a second problem now which Again I’m sure I’m missing something so thanks in advance for further help.

When clicking on a video to play it comes up ‘querying the video name’ was then asks me to overtype or confirm it. No matter what I do it get stuck there and I have to restart ...have I got to do something? Is it the way I have things named?

not sure I follow what happens when you try to play, could you snap a photo or 2 and post it?
