Frustrated Noob

I purchased MrMc on my ATV4 last night and have found it the most unhelpful app I've ever bought. After using Infuse and being able to get it set up within minutes I thought it would be the same with MrMc. I have shared folders set up on my iMac but after 4 hours trying I just can't get MrMc to recognise the folders. There are no tutorials whatsoever, I just presume you are supposed to know how to use the software from previous experience but that's not what the average user expect on IOS platforms. Since I can't get a refund I'll just have to leave it in the cloud until the designers decide to help new users out and simply this confusing app.

There is a bit of learning curve but MrMC provides much, much more than the others and this is difficult to distill down to Noob level.
I suspect that you are getting hit with the smbX issue with OSX. Apple changed how they do samba servers and moved to a format called smbX. The normal samba client has problems with smbX but the new libdsm does not have these issues. As libdsm is new, we kept the previous as default until a few cycles of release. Easy to change, settings, services,
smb client. Turn on libdsm.
As for guides, there are a ton of them out there, MrMC is based off XBMC/Kodi 15.2 and all those guides apply.
The hardest thing to learn is to setup 'sources' THEN they will appear in video/etc. The actual files will not show up when setting up the sources, only the directories as you can have many sources, even from the same server share point.

I had the same issues when I first went to set up MrMC.
As Davilla notes, libdsm needs to be turned on. However, libdsm is still not perfected (as I found out) and I would suggest leaving libdsm off and using SMBup instead, using the following guide to set it up:
http://www.tweaking4all.com/os-tips-and ... x-smb-fix/
Once SMBup is running on the system with your video files, you go into Videos on MrMc, "Add videos.." click "Browse" and select "zeroconfig": your drives and files should then show up. If using this method, make sure to turn off "libdsm" and keep it off.
