Unencrypted Blu-Ray and DVD .isos

I assumed unencrypted rips of Blu-Rays and DVDs would play just like they do on OSX and Windows.
All my movies are ripped as .isos. MrMC does not seem to recognize those as playable items. Is that a setup issue or are they truly not supported??
