Coming from Plex to MrMC

I'm trying to configure my startup to offer me the quickest route to see posters of videos that are Continue Watching and Recently Added (ideally both). I read that an update may add an ATV top shelf, will we see those categories there? For now, I have Settings Appearance Startup Window set to Videos. But when I startup I don't see any posters at all. How can I get my posters to appear when I start the app?

Update. I found the Poster Wrap view. descending sort is also helpful. I still have to click through about 4 screens before I get to that view. Is that right? I'm wondering if I shouldn't be backing out of the about with the menu button? Also Is there a view or command that shows metadata like description, RT ratings, cast, etc? Is MrMC getting that data like Plex did?

I think MrMc handle these metadata like Kodi do, and you can find a lot of the answers in the Kodi-Wiki. http://kodi.wiki/view/Video_management

I know it's best to have TV Shows and Movies in separate directories but that's not ideal for me. All my files are in one directory. Somehow Plex is able to make the distinction when it gets metadata and puts the 2 content types in the correct directly (at least 90% of the time). So right now I've told MrMC the directory is for movies. Is there a way for MrMC to give me a TV shows tab and make the same distinction as Plex?

You might be able to set the path again if you use a different protocol (say NFS for TV Shows and SMB for Movies). I wouldn't recommend it, and you should probably spend the time organizing your files. Look into something like FileBot that can create symlinks or hardlinks that way you can keep your single folder, but have them all organized in a better way somewhere else.

My initial attempts with another path didn't seems to,set up a TV tab. I'll keep trying. I've learned that Upnp to my Plex server doesn't allow for any metadata collection, and the directory only seems to show up in SMB. Thanks and I'll keep playing around. Tbh, I'm finding MrMC fun to play around with, but not practical for family use, as Plex is. DTS audio is my main motivation for playing around though, so TV isn't all that important.

I see how FileBot renames, and I'll read up on symlinks. But before I do, is there anything simpler I can do in SABnzbd to automatically have TV shows put in a separate folder/directory when they're downloaded, so I can make that a file source for TV in MrMC? I just noticed a feature in SABnzbd called Sorting and wondered if that wasn't an easy fix.

Are you saying that SABnzbd can recognize that a file is a TV show and put it in a separate directory? Is this as simple as?...

Category=tv
Priority=default
Processing=default
Folder/Path=tv
Groups / Indexer tags

Or do i need a script somewhere?

I assign my TV Shows to the TV category, SABnzbd will fetch them, place them into a folder 'tv' and into a folder for the series.

post processing scripts folder : /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/SickBeard/autoProcessTV

sabToSickBeard.py is the script the runs.

I'm not sure this is default, I set up SABnzbd several years ago and rarely have to touch it.

SickBeard is set up to change the names to xbmc/kodi compatible.
