regarding the ff changes. I'm guessing input from 3rd party remotes is being treated differently if 4x is the increment. I only use the siri remote and when I bring up the overlay and click the ff symbol it increments up as 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x

yes, thats correct... sorry for being vague... its only for 3rd party remotes

Still crashing, but it has marked some as watched (the log is massive [13M with 112890 lines]). I cut out a lot of the middle that's the same as what's around it so I could put it on pastebin.

we have done that few TFs ago, logout from emby client on MrMC and login again.. let us know how it goes

There must have been something changed since 3.07. As I said I started with a fresh install of MrMC 3.07.
I logged out and in again and then started MrMC again. Nothing changed:
