The one you recommended can't see NFS interfaces, so it can't navigate to the folders. Plex can index the specials just fine, but for some reason, MrMC just doesn't seem to be up on it.
Highly unlikely, I use both mediaelch (for 6+ years) and tinymediamanager to create metadata on my nfs shares. Are you sure this is not a user rights issue ?

Can you set all The rights to read/write/ ownership on your tv-show folder ?

Are all the setting for nfs correctly ? https://wiki.mrmc.tv/index.php/NFS see qnap
https://kodi.wiki/view/NFS See qnap

Sidestep: can you use kodi on a computer to scan the nfs shares ? Are the results the same ?

So here's my setup- QNAP NAS, running 8 drivers in RAID 10 for permanent movies and TV shows. Another server runs in tandem, for DVR and temp movie functions, running scrubbers, etc to maintain those directories. Those two servers feed into a couple Apple 4K TV's around the house for internal usage, and an Nvidia Shield for external access via Plex Media Server. The Shield and the other server seem to have issues with NFS on the QNAP NAS, when Samba is enabled. I prefer NFS for file transfer for the smaller overhead/more efficient file transfer, especially when we get into 4K movies. I'm wondering if I should just allocate communication between the servers and the Shield to the servers to Samba, and just keep the Apple TVs as NFS. External streaming requests will be severely reduced because of transcoding, and I don't really care all that much (have you ever tried to stream on hotel wifi? oof.), so I'm thinking it may just be easier to redefine preferred communication protocols. Your thoughts?

I have a similar setup but not so complicated since I only have one NAS. I only use NFS to the atv4k. And everything that can be wired is wired. I never streamed anything major (4K) over WiFi. And if I do it’s to an iPad. So I agree you should simplify your network protocols. But imho it doesn’t explain the doctor who problems you have. And the fact that you can’t write metadata on NFS. Unless the qnap is making something difficult somewhere. But qnap and synology are good boxes.

I agree with everything you've said. Everything on my end is wired as well, there's no freaking way I would run 4K over wifi. What a waste. That said, I agree, I'll convert over the non Apple devices to samba, see if that makes life easier on trying to detect the NAS.

Please Try kodi on a computer and please see if it is a different result with the library and dr who. Connect over NFS.

If the problem remains something else is going on.

So a weird thing happened this weekend....one of them fixed itself. I compared the two, and the other one had 'DVD Order' enabled. Turned it off, and boom. Both worked. No idea how/why it works now.
