By disabling Videotoolbox accelaration, and leaving only AV foundation i get proper colors

BUT

there is a small delay between image and sound ... (not proper lip sync)...

Changing in Apple Settings Match Frame Rate to Off improves the lip syncing issue

if a/v sync is a constant offset, change it in OSD for audio and make it global

you want match frame rate on. that's the proper way to view content. let your TV switch to the frame rate of the video so there's no judder.

it's common that there are differences in audio sync with different framerates. just adjust it in the MrMC settings.

I'm actually using a global 200ms delay on my ATV4K through my Denon or lip sync is off in everything.

There were 2 issues

1) Videotoolbox codec produces washed out picture.
is it normal? if so why to use it in first place ...

2) AVfoundation produces lipsync problems
Disabling option in AppleTV seems to fix the problem
or using a global delay is a solution

I am curious though why i dont have this problem with libreelec...(using same audio components - passthough my marantz 5012 receiver)

Videotoolbox codec works perfectly fine for most others, there is something strange/different about your setup.
Videotoolbox codec is the original codec, it has much better error checking for nutty h264 content.
AVFoundation codec is new and is the only way to handle HDR content.

More info please, what is your global delay ? only for certain audio codec formats ? or certain video framerate ? a/v sync issues depend many things, that's why we have the setting.

libreelec uses a totally different audio sink code together with a totally different system audio component. Assuming they are identical would be a mistake.

Based on user feedback, we are starting to see a pattern as there are numerous code paths to consider and review. On the list to investigate, in the mean time, just set a global delay and don't worry about it :)

when playing a video go to audio settings (swipe down). you can save the setting as a default at the bottom of that audio settings screen.

I found out that this minor delay is produced when playing back DTSHD or TrueHD movies.

playing back normal dts ac3 files produces no delay..

as i ve mentioned before

Apple TV -> Marantz 5012 -> LGB7 Oled...

While using AV codec since Videotoolbox codex produces washed out colors (but no delay lip sync)
