tighten up means reduce the center exclusion bounds rect. tighten as in make smaller.
siri remote handling has been completely re-written using the tvOS microGamepad API.

OK, completely rewritten. I admire your work ethic.
It seems that I'm used to tapping more of the edge, especially the top edge, to click this way and that way. Now it seems I must get the meat of my thumb on the actual pad to register as a click. Anyway, I'll shut up for now to see what others think.

Feels to me like it's not sensitive enough, so you have to tap harder than I would in the Movies app. Also when I swipe it's just jumping instead of smoothly going down like the Movies app will (I'd like to use that app as a reference since I have 548 movies in there). Also in the Movies app and others, if I pull down from the side it brings up the side bar (like) thing and I can navigate around smoothly and a lot faster through all my movies. MrMC doesn't do that so it can take forever to get to the bottom of my list for 800 movies if I just go down (I know I could just go up, but it's an example).
It still feels "Kodi" to me. I'd love it to feel "Apple."

Also using my harmony remote it does feel like it's slow on responses when I'm slowly navigating around the settings. Only feels like there's a 500ms delay.

Try finger down and hold in the direction you want to scroll. It will auto scroll very fast until you lift your finger.
Making it feel 'Apple' is really, really hard. The tvOS focus engine knows all about the view/views and can do a lot of advanced prediction. In our code base, the input section knows almost nothing about views and how they are organized.
Never knew about pan up/down on side of touchpad acting as a scrollbar.
Your harmony remote is IR ?

I never knew about the scrollbar feature of the touchpad either.

Yeah, it's the Harmony Elite (hub) with extra IR blasters hooked up to it.

First impressions - I'm used to doing the tapping the edge to navigate in MrMC and it feels about the same to me as before. The swipe is nice to have and works a lot better than before but not perfect. I find on the main screen one swipe horizontally blows through 3 or 4 items with little effort, and the same effort browsing TV shows scrolls through 1 or 2. I guess it depends on that view option you are using.

It's a lot better, but I expect it to work in a slightly different way.
Can you use a timeout in complement to boundary check to determine if the touch is intentional and intended to used as a swipe instead of a click?
If the touch event lasts e.g. for at least .5 seconds then all directional input will immediately result in the corresponding movement.
Also I would like it if it recognized and differentiated the movement if the list is smaller than e.g. 10 items so it feels more responsive.
When I swipe I expect it to stop at each end and also switch directions when I do.
Don't know if anyone agrees or understands what I'm saying or if it's possible to implement.

if you slow swipe(pan) and change direction it will follow that... flick in either direction will go between 3 and 6 spaces depending on the speed of it.
