IP-keyboard doesn't work and is there a memory issue?

Post by Looxoor »

Hi!
I just bought the FTV app as well and I had an issue while trying to enter the IP-adress to the MySQL-server.

The keyboard had an ip button which seemed natural to use.
It didn't work however, tried multiple times and one time the entire app crashed, the other nothing at all happened.

Moreover, even after a fresh restart I only have about 150 MB free ram, which seems to be slightly too little, the entire ui is sluggish and it seems to buffer more than it should.

It's a first gen fire TV stick.
It ran quite wonderfully on Kodi with the same skin.

Is there something wrong on my side or is it a known issue?

Free ram is not under our control, the FireOS manages that and it depends on what else is running.

Not sure about 'ip button', never used it.

As for sluggish UI, also never seen it or hear of anyone else mentioning it. I suggest a reboot.

Ok, but it is the only thing I've actively started, and I made a factory reset before purchasing the app, because I couldn't launch the app store, so anything else running is because of fire os.
I'll try a reboot and return on that matter.

It's a button next to the one where you switch between letters and symbols. I'm guessing it's supposed to only show numbers and a dot?
Anyway I just thought I'd inform you about the bug.

Thanks for the reply and I hope you have a great day!

Probably an unwanted spmc backport.
The ip button has been "hacked" to do voice search. As voice search doesn't work on AFTV, you should probably revert.

Great!

I did a cold reboot (unplugged the power) and immediately fired up mrmc. Still only 179 MB available.
I'm at a loss for reasons.

oh, missed this 'first gen fire TV stick'. They only have 1GB 1GB (512MB system, 512MB video ) of ram vs 2GB of ram on firetvs.

So really 512MBs available for apps.

Just solved the sluggish ui.
I had disabled all v-sync.
When I enabled it always everything was so much faster.
Just FYI. (Maybe mention it in the descriptive text for that option?)

Maybe I should enable and hide that setting. There really is no reason to turn off v-sync.
