Hello - I have an Apple TV 4 and and Apple TV 4k (with tvOS frame rate matching enabled). I run MythTV with an HD Homerun tuner and use MrMC as the front end. Recently I noticed that both Apple TVs flicker during commercials when watching live tv. Most of the time the show itself is fine but when it goes to a commercial the flickering is obvious.
Do you have any thoughts what could be causing this? I thought at first that it had to do with the new frame rate matching option on the 4k but then noticed it also happening on the older Apple TV 4th gen connected to a different TV.

'flickering' could be anything including us not understanding what you mean

Notice the flickering, especially in the black jacket, when the interview starts 3 seconds in. Near the end the flickering stops. This happens in MrMC on my Apple TV 4k, Apple TV 4th gen, as well as my iPad. When I play the same clip as above in Kodi on my iMac there is no flickering. So I don't think this is a problem with my tuners or MythTV itself. The problem seems to only happen when playing back in MrMC on any device. The flickering typically occurs only in commercials which makes me wonder if it's frame rate related. This started happening at some point in the past couple of months, sorry I can't be more descriptive other than that but I'm certain it hasn't always done this.

Deinterlace video and deinterlace method are both set to auto on all devices.

Ah ha! If I set deinterlace video to on instead of auto, and leave the method to auto the flickering issue goes away.

Seems fine now under version in testflight, no flicking on appletv4k
