I just watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (4K HDR) and the blacks were black and not pixelated.
Here's plex:

Here's MrMC:

I'm guessing it's some setting on my end, but I haven't changed anything besides switching off Hardware Acceleration because of interlace detection problems with TVHeadend. I've tried turning it back on too and it's the same.

Apple TV settings I have 4k HDR 60hz with match Dynamic Range enable (not match Frame Rate, the constant flashing when switching content drove me insane!)
Should be using AVFoundation for HDR. No reason to switch that off for TVH material because interlaced doesn't use hardware decoding anyway.
It’s not HDR content. Anyway, seems if I enable “Adjust Display Refresh Rate” it works fine but then I get the black screen flash before playing any content.

Also, I have to leave hardware acceleration off for TVH otherwise no deinterlacing happens at all!

The black screen flash is your tv changing refresh rate. Is that really a problem?

This issue is complicated by not detecting interlacing from TVH when enabling VideoToolBoxCodec/AVFoundationCodec.

The code should detect interlacing and vector to FFmepg but that seems to be failing for smiffy1989 for some reason. Amet runs TVH and he seems to have no issues with this. So what's different here and why is interlace detection failing.

disable click up/down when progress/scrubber is enabled
minor should allow focus change tweaks.

We have to decide, either a) up/down click does nothing if can scrub, or b) it does chapter/big seek.

Can't have both.

It is set to a) right now.

Personally, I'd rather have b) as it's a swipe down in native player that brings up settings and subtitles. The native player treats a click up/down as the same as a center click.

I like a) but if's removed how would you handle chapter skips with the Siri remote? My Harmony still has the skip forward/skip back dedicated button and that'll always work, so either way I'll be alright on my main TV.

Maybe a compromise :)

click up/down -> chapter IF there are chapters, else ignored if can scrub.

EDIT: Yea, I like that behavior, gets chapter seeks but avoids the big seek which seems to be the real concern.

Ok. I have enabled siri expert mode where i am not using live scrubbing instead i am using the old method of tapping on corners to fwd and rewind. After 3-4 taps, a message appears that subtitles have been disabled. Same again after 3-4 taps it says subtitles have been enabled. Although tapping on corner is skipping the movie fine but keeps enabling and disabling subtitles; this is very annoying.

This is an unusualy behavior. I used to tap on the corner fine before. Where has this subtitle mess come from?

Is this intentional or a bug?
